MOJ Reaches out for Jesus to Flood and Fire Victims This year the world has seen a lot of floods and fires in the U.S. and in Asia. In eastern India, flooding from cyclones coming off of the Bay of Bengal deluged villages where MOJ has pastors and churches. In 24 hours, more than 9 inches of rain fell sweeping away hundreds of homes leaving more than 55,000 people homeless. Our staff were called by many people and agencies and alerted us here. “Some of our pastors and many believers are now homeless, having lost all they own. Many are without clothing or access to food. We returned from one of our particularly hard hit villages and they are praying for assistance as you are able. Please pray for all the orphans because they are susceptible to illness and disease spreads fast in such conditions.” As hard as it is to believe, in the same region of flooding, we have also experienced fires in the aftermath. Two villages that escaped the flooding, by being on higher ground, had fires sweep through their villages. A pastor who we support had his home and church burned to the ground. We believe it will cost about $6,000 to replace these If you feel God’s leading, we would put whatever is received for fire relief towards that project. Most of the poor we work with live in tents or in thatched roof huts that offer little protection from the elements. There are no social services to assist them, so they call MOJ because we will come. In the US we have insurance and federal agencies that step in during major disasters. MOJ tries to demonstrate Christ’s love when faced with these things, but you make it possible. May God bless you for your kindness.
