Have you Sought His Richest Blessing? When you seek God’s blessings, what are you really seeking? Stop reading for just a moment, look into your heart and find the answer . When people ask for God’s blessings, I usually hear requests for things that will soon pass away. They are almost always about momentary gifts that make our lives and health better. Some are for the benefit of others, while many benefit only ourselves. Have you considered, especially as we approach the season of Thanksgiving, asking for something else? I encourage you, for a single month, not to ask for any blessing that is temporary. Ask God for anything that will outlive your life and outlast the earth. To get you started, why not ask to know Him as well as He knows you? Ask to hear His voice more clearly than you have ever heard it before. Ask Him to give you an understanding of His heart as He looks down upon earth. You may find your prayers answered in very unusual ways. He promised He would draw near to all who drew near to Him. When we sought to know God, He led us to India and to those whose needs far outstripped our means. As we cried out for help, we learned our need for Him was greater than our need for any “thing.” Because of the suffering of those He brought to our door, we understood His heart and love in a new and deeper way. If all you ask for are temporary blessings, that is all you may receive. Why not seek the richest blessings—the blessings that live on after your body no longer can? When you consider your blessings this Thanksgiving, consider how many are temporary and how many are eternal. If you find yourself uncomfortable with what you find, why not begin to seek that which will never pass away? You will never regret giving up what you can’t keep for what you will never lose. Godspeed you on your journey.
