The Movement of the Spirit among the “Untouchables” There are more than 1 billion people in India today (1/6th of the world’s population). The “Untouchable” caste make up 200 million of that billion—nearly the population of the entire United States. In spite of ongoing persecution, many of them have come to faith in Jesus Christ. The Voice of the Martyrs reported this past month that though Christianity makes up only 2.3% of the population, the beating and killing of Christians has not prevented this move of God’s Spirit. (photo V.O.M.) After a pastor was beaten and killed on June 28, a rally was held to protest the beating and murder of Christians. This young girl’s sign is the plaintive cry of people who know what their faith may cost them. And still, the untouchables keep coming to Jesus. I think of this young girl’s courage and pray that all of God’s people will be so strong. In your daily prayers would you pray for His persecuted people, in India and elsewhere? Our Lord is faithful to hear the prayers and cries of His children.
