Carry the Light Into the Darkness Dear Friends of Mission of Joy—Greetings to you in Jesus Name! We have a special commission from Jesus to carry the light into the darkness. When you read the newspaper or watch television, we see the power of darkness growing. In Asia, we have faced growing persecution among our churches and against the message of Christ’s love. Some of our Pastors have been beaten with sticks by radical Hindu youths after they finished their Sunday services. While I travel in India, I have 3 men who sleep right outside my door at night to protect me. Even children are not exempt from persecution. East of us in China, this report reached us this month. “Secret police broke into a Sunday School meeting in a house church. The children had gathered at the house church to learn about Jesus even though house churches are outlawed in China. The police took the children away to their headquarters. What happened next shocked the policemen. One of the children began singing and soon the others joined in, “In the name of Jesus, In the name of Jesus, we have the victory. . .” When they got to the police station, the children were told, “If you want to be released, you will write, ‘I do not believe in Jesus’ one hundred times.” The children began to write, but instead they wrote, “I believe in Jesus today. I will believe in Jesus tomorrow. I will believe in Jesus forever.’” The power of darkness is growing in the world, yet we are called to bring His light. Look within these pages and see how God is leading us to bring the light to those who are suffering in darkness. We have begun an outreach to children forced into prostitution, bringing water to the thirsty, food to the hungry and are being called to a deeper commitment and sacrifice for Jesus’ sake. We thank you for sharing the joy of sacrificing our lives so others might live. One day, the Lord will honor your sacrifice of time and comfort that helped the lost find their way in the darkness. We are privileged to carry His light. Pray that we will be found faithful and will complete His work for us. We praise God for you in these abundant fields of harvest!
