“I was naked and you clothed me” When Jesus spoke to those gathered around His throne in the book of Revelation, he tells them that when they help those in desperate circumstances, they are really helping Him. It’s hard to believe that there are places in the world so poor that nakedness is not uncommon. When we are working in the poorest tribal regions, we often see many without clothing and shoes. To lack such a necessity means that these also lack food and a roof over their heads. To share Christ’s love, we must also feed the body as well as the soul—much like Jesus fed the multitudes as He spoke about God’s love for them. We may not see the results of feeding and clothing and housing people, but we know it pleases the Lord to minister His love. We know there is a delicate balance between providing physical and spiritual food. If Christ’s words are true, the Lord values them both and we will continue to do the same.
