Our 'Unknown' Children One of our sponsors received a letter from their sponsor child “unknown Sharon.” They asked us to let this child know they weren’t ‘unknown’ but that someone loved them , cared about them, and “knew them.” We most heartily agree! We know that Jesus knows the name of every child and loves them equally. Unfortunately, we often receive little or no information from children that come to us from the streets. This isn’t the only child without a last name. In the past we even had a child who didn’t know her first name. After she came to us, we held a naming ceremony in which she decided she wanted to be called Mary. So we are beginning to look into having a last name ceremony for some of our children. One reason have hesitated in this, is we hope that a relative will show up at our doorstep and lay claim to the child, or provide information on their real last name. But aside from that remote possibility, we will be looking into holding naming ceremonies for our children without one. God has been so very good to us in this year. We have been forced to pray more earnestly for our every provision, and this has drawn us nearer to him. Sometimes a lack of material things is a good thing—it causes us to seek Him more. May you find Him closer to your family in the coming year and may He bless and keep you in His care in the New Year!
